About MWIA

The Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) representing women doctors from all six continents. The association was founded in 1919 and is therefore one of the oldest professional bodies at the international level, it is non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making.

Our aims and goals are:

  • To promote the communication and cooperation of Medical Women regardless of race, religion or political views in order to develop friendship and understanding between Medical Women throughout the world.
  • To actively work against gender related inequalities in the medical profession between female and male doctors including career opportunities and economical aspects.
  • To offer medical women the opportunity to meet upon questions concerning the health and well-being of humanity.
